Chronology of GTA V

This documents the many delays to both the release of GTA V for PC, lastgen consoles, and Online heists as well as significant updates to the game over the past +year. I will not mention verified jobs (except the 1st one), Rockstar/Social Club Events, minor title updates that don’t add new content, screenshots, nor any contests. I combed though the newswire going back nearly four years.

April 9th 2015, GTA Online PC servers appeared temporarily online on Rockstar’s status page. This lasted about an hour, as it’s no longer shown on the status page. It’s assumed that game revwers got a sneek peek at GTA V and GTA Online since This Link still shows a handful of people playing GTA V on PC via Steam’s database stats and info.

April 14th 2015, Grand Theft Auto V Is Now Available for PC
At 12am midnight GMT, digital downloads were “unlocked” and installing began. The release went off with very few hitches if any. The majority of issues players had effected a few players who had unstable PCs, under powered PCs who made settings too high and ignored the minimum PC specifications released two months earlier. GTA V is quite scaleable, even on a PC at minimum specification with the advanced eye candy disabled, GTA V for PC plays and looks better than it did in it’s original release for the Xbox 360, and PS3, and on a modern gaming PC is the best experience for GTA V, bar none.
http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52417/grand-theft-auto-v-is-now-available-for-pc

So what’s left to wait for now it’s all said and done? GTA V and GTA Online aren’t done. There is still speculation for a new Story mode DLC (as there were two for GTA IV) more heist missions for GTA online, as well as whatever else Rockstar plans on doing. Stay tuned.

Ranking up in GTA online

These are legitimate ways to rank up in GTA online!
No hacks, no glitches, no modded lobbies involved.

I’ve been able to rank TWO characters to level 200 using these methods.

Grinding on Rooftop Rumble with hard difficulty SOLO

You’ll need:

  1. Pegassi Zentorno
  2. Micro SMG
  3. Any type of MG or assault rifle (I like special carbine)
  4. Sticky bombs or Grenades (optional)

Approach the parking garage from the south side (from the tracks under the overpass of the freeway).

The Zentorno has a bullet proof back end. Drive backwards towards the garage and keep the back end of your Zentorno towards the enemy, using it as a shield.
If you can get armor upgrades for your Zentorno, this will help.

Use your Micro MSG (or AP Pistol) and shoot down all the “professionals” that you see. More will drive up along your right, DO NOT turn to look at that approaching car, or the “professionals” at the garage will approach your car and take you down. That car will eventually turn left and be in your line of sight so you can keep shooting at all the “professionals” and keeping them away from your car.

Once you’ve killed the “professionals” on that side of the parking garage, keep backing in your Zentorno into the garage killing everyone inside. Use sticky or Grenades to blow up everyhing as you continue to use the back side of your Zentorno as a shield

Always keep and eye on the mini-map on the bottom left of your screen in case any of the “professionals” creep up around and take them out before they can shoot you.

Once everyone is dead inside the parking garage drive out into the alleyway. Two vehicles will spawn about one block west from your location heading towards you. One of them will drive into the alleyway you are in.  Toss a sticky bomb in the alleyway and detonate it as the enemy vehicle drives near it, and then drive off into the nearby intersection where that enemy car came from.

You should ignore the other vehicle that has pulled up at the other side of the parking garage because at this point the NPC with the package you need to complete the job is about too spawn.

He will spawn near the intersection you should already be at. He may drive north, or west, but usually he heads east over the bridge; go after him!

Equip your Micro SMG aim for the drivers head though the rear window of his car. If you’re accurate enough you can take him out quickly. Pickup the document and make your way to Martin to finish the job.
Special note: DO NOT USE the AP Pistol when killing the driver as you may blow up the vehicle, destroy the document and thus fail the mission.

Optionally once you have the document, you can drive back to the parking garage and kill those last  remaining “professionals” that pulled up earlier that you had ignored. It’s and extra 100RP, and some times if you don’t take care of them they may chase after you while you’re driving to Martin’s house, but that rarely occurs unless you’re driving a slow car.

Earn 200 RP every 70 seconds, AFK at the Car Impound

Head over to the car impound. Make your way around the back side between the tall building, and the impound. There is a small walkway between the back of police building, and the large building next door. Just jump up on what look like metal cabinets, then walk over to the duct work and climb that, then climb the wall onto the roof top where the Heleipad is.

The trick is finding a sweet spot to stand in as the cops tend to move at first.  Some times they WILL see you (and sometimes shoot you) if you’re standing too close to the edge of the rooftop, ot by that door as shown in the video below. I find it better to stand on the corner of the Helipad.

Once you make it up there find a spot and watch the game to see if you start to lose your wanted level, and let that repeat. After you’ve lost your wanted level twice you should be in good shape, if not move your position around that rooftop and you should be able to find a sweet spot.  You’ll likely rank 2-10 times overnight depending on what rank you’re already at.

Slap a rubber band around the right stick, plug in USB play-n-charge in it (or use wired controller) and let it sit there when you go to bed, go to work.. or go have a life.

It may also help to disable controller vibration so it doesn’t make weird noises when you get phone calls in the game.

See this video, thanks to GirlGamingCentral

The best way to leave this when you’re done is to walk over to the other side of the Helipad, and crouch and wait to lose your wanted level. You won’t gain another wanted level as long as you’re on that side of the building. Then walk (west) towards the tall building, jump down to a low rooftop, then from there to the ground, and be on your merry way.

Troll the marines at Fort Zancudo, get a 4-star wanted level and hide for 400 RP

Drive out to the north-west side of Fort Zancudo. You can get there by going though the tunnel, as you drive north, and make a right turn at the first street you see.

Drive up and break though the gate. Just as your car drives over the arrow on the ground, you’ll get a 4 star wanted level.

Immedately drive out and make a right turn onto another nearby street. Follow the dirt road and turn left, and pull in front of a small building. There may be NPC workers here on a break but they will not bother you. Stay in this posistion for about a minute and you’ll lose the wanted level, and gain 400RP.

The reason this works is the game still thinks you’re at the Military Base, and the normal police do not hunt you down with helicopters. The military doesn’t use helicopters to go after you, so it’s VERY easy to evade them as long as you stay within that area and out of line of sight of the military. The military can’t exit the large fences that’s keeping you from getting inside, but a FEW do spawn outside and will make there way towards you but they are easy to evade. DO NOT go driving off up the mountain side or back towards the main road as the normal police with helicopters will get on your ass ASAP, and you’re screwed.

See this Video to see where to go, this video also shows it differently than how I explained it, but this will give you a good idea on what to do.

The 1080p delema of the Xbox One

PCs have been doing HD and better resolutions for decades before “HD” was even a marketing sales gimmick. Microsoft is trying to cram an HTPC (home theater PC), a DVR, skype, and a video game console into one unit, with hardware specs that are well below even a mid-range gaming PC, or even a HTPC that you could get in the $500 price range.

Microsoft is using virtual machines (HyperV) to run all of this stuff in the background all as separate Operating Systems (OS) that its NO WONDER why the resolutions of CoD Ghosts, and other games are running at 900p or 720p.  NOT at the ubiquitous and largely taken-for-granted quality of 1080p, which has been common place for over a decade.

It’s not that the Xbox One hardware isn’t up to snuff to do 1080p at 60fps, assuming all it is doing is running a video game. It’s the other multiple OS running other stuff via HyperV that devs are having to deal with. They only get a slice of the pie of it’s GPU/CPU horsepower, which is whats making developers lower graphics resolutions to maintain a certain frame rate in their games.

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom wants to record a TV show in the background while you play your video game, even though you probably don’t have TV feed hooked up to it (since you already own a DVR). Also CPU cycles are being used as it listens to you via Kinect, while you yell at n00bs and trolls online; just in case you actually give a voice command to the Xbox. There is a “GAME DVR” that records you playing the game in case you wanna record your last epic trick shot, or achievement (which granted thats fucking cool).  Plus there’s online and network traffic, cloud storage, and cloud servers. That’s a LOT of stuff going on that would bog down a high end PC with an eight-core CPU @ 4.5ghz, quad GPUs in SLI, with 64GB of quad channel RAM with a 250GB SSD storage.

That last bit might be exaggerated but I believe you get my point. All of this reminds me of past failures Microsoft had, like Windows Me, and to some extent Windows Vista. It’s typical Microsoft ideologies where they take something that works well, and in its next incarnation try make it do far too much and it ultimately fails, or it won’t meet expectations. All because it’s doing all this extra “crap” that most users have no need for, and it prevents them from doing what users WANT it to do. Microsoft doesn’t care what you want, they know better for your own good!

With all of that said,  I’m still gonna buy an Xbox One over a PS4 since I have no loyalty nor much history with Sony as I’ve had with Xbox over the past decade and a half, not to mention with DOS/Windows PC gaming which spans a better part of 30 years now. Plus I just re-upped my XBL gold membership for another year. 🙂

GTA Online annoyances

Now that major issues have been fixed by RockStar, with more to come, I’m going to talk about gameplay issues that bug me.

I’m now at rank 60 and I have a lot of weapons on me that i just don’t need anymore. I don’t need to carry three different pistols and three different shotguns, and umpteen different SMG/rifles. Every time I start the game, or even get out of my car it seems to default to the weakest/first weapon you have in that weapon slot on the weapon wheel.  I should be able to equip what weapons I want, but not ALL of them and having to fumble though my weapons when I’m under attack. I’ve could have survived many more unexpected attacks if could pull out the weapon I wanted.

I could just use up all the ammo on the other weapons, that MIGHT make the game not switch to them with no ammo, but I have 5000+ rounds on most of my weapons. Plus weapons like the shotguns all use the same ammo so that idea won’t work on that.

I should be able to heal up when I’m home. Either eat some food or sleep, or just wait a while. The whole point of having a home is for safety and recovery, which in GTAo doesn’t seem to do. None of the little activities in your home have any effect at all, not even a buff of some sort; which would probably wear off by the time I got out side. It takes so long to get to your door, get to your garage, slowly walk to your car and then go outside.  By then any buff would have worn off. I can’t even RUN in my home/garage which is rather annoying if a friend is buzzing at your door and it takes you a minute to get from your bathroom to the door.

I’m having issues with my 10 car Garage. It won’t accept a 10th car claiming it’s full, even though there’s only nine in there, and only nine are listed when I call the mechanic. When I had less than 9 vehicles in my garage, I wasn’t able to store a Sanchez (dirt bike) but I was able to store a Quad ATV. UPDATE: Turns out i had a vehicle that was destroyed and it was listed TWICE in the Insurance clam list. So I guess that duplicate car counted even though it wasn’t in my garage. So I promptly sold the duplicate car, quick 8k! 🙂

I’m constantly seeing the same fucking jobs/tasks from Simeon, Gerald, and Martin. I’m now Rank 60 and I’m still getting the same car lists from Simeon. Then these guys start to bitch at me when I don’t do the jobs even though I’ve already done them a dozen times. Since rank 50, the game has started to get stale because of this. I have to rely on my friends to make things interesting.

I still haven’t figured out how to increase my Strength nor my Lung Capacity. It seems the only way to do Strength is to arm wrestle, but that’s tedious. Lung Capacity i believe is to swim, but I’m not sure I have to be underwater or just tread water.

When you’re a passenger in a car with a wanted level. The driver is the only one that gets RP when the wanted level is lost; passengers get nothing.

GTA Online Top 5 issues

We all expected it to have issues but honestly I find that Rockstar Games had a good launch. Once you get past the initial “tutorial from hell” introduction of GTA Online, the game runs smoothly for the most part. Sure some attempts to use online mode my fail, creating Crew logos will screw up, the game it self might lockup. But for the most part it DOES work. Often you get kicked off the server you’re on by the other players because they are assholes. When robbing a store yelling at the cashier to make him go faster doesn’t work if you’re in party voice chat. Screaming kids in voice chat, and no way to tell who’s doing it.

The biggest issue is getting into the initial race-mission with Lemar. For some reason doing this has to be done while online to a server, however when the actual “experience” of doing this has ZERO interaction with other players online.  This race should be a LOCAL instance WITHOUT the need to connect to a server. If any of your friends haven’t gotten past this bit, you can’t play with them online.  Since the servers are so bogged down initiating this race with Lemar, it often fails.

This is what needs to be fixed:

  1. The race with Lemar should be a local instance with no multiplayer servers so i don’t have to wait 6 hours to get my character started.
  2. No way to tell who’s SCREAMING in my ear on voice chat while in freeroam mode. I have no idea who I need to mute to shut up annoying players on mic.
  3. There needs to be a way to ABORT connecting attempts to GTAO when it’s clearly not working, so I don’t have to dashboard-quit and start all over again (i.e. waiting for the FUCKING race to start with Lemar)
  4. Passive mode doesn’t work when in a vehicle, you can be killed, and you can also shoot from your car.
  5. Stop players from kicking other players off with no reason, or even a warning that a vote is occurring. People are using this to grief and for harassment.

That’s my top 5 issues with GTA online. Get on it Rockstar, you have billions to work for.

Joystick settings for Firestorm with Xbox 360 controller

With the new Phototools and Camreatools added to Firestorm v4.3.1.31155, I tried once again to get my old wired Xbox 360 controller to actually be USEFUL in second life. When you plug in your Xbox controller, Firestorm (or any SL viewer) basically has no idea what to do with it. After all Second Life is technically a 3D editor put into a MMO game world. Controllers aren’t exactly meant for 3D editing, but they are useful for 3D gaming, so this is how I was able to get it to work like a standard controller as if playing a First, or Third person shooter.

If you have tried to use it in the past you’ll notice your camera or your avatar will move around very unpredictably.  This is because the axis dimensions in game, are mapped to seemingly random axises on your controller. The viewer will only see 5 of your analog axises.  Both analog sticks for a total of four axises, and both analog triggers are seen as a single axis.  Left stick are axises 0 and 1.  Right stick are axises 3 and 4, and the triggers are seen as axis 2. You cannot configure any of the buttons, shoulder bumpers, nor the Dpad.  However the (A) button is set to toggle flycam on and off, so you can switch from avatar movement, to flycam on the.. um.. fly!

Here is how I have my joystick configuration:

gamepadsettings

Pitch scale value set as a positive number (as shown above) will give you the reversed pitch (looking up and down) like a airplane flight stick. So with the right analog stick, moving down on the stick looks up, and up on the stick looks down. To revert this, use a NEGATIVE number, this will flip the direction. I found that my controller had a LOT of drift on axis 4,  so i set al my dead zone settings a bit higher than the default.  Also note that axis 5 doesn’t exist on Xbox controller, but I use it on axis I’m not going to use (roll and zoom).  But you may want to change the analog triggers (axis 2) for “roll” so you can get that airplane barrel roll effect as you cam around. For now the analog triggers are used for up/down motion.  When in avatar mode, you’ll fly up and down instead, holding the left trigger while standing will make you crouch. If you crouch and move the left stick you’ll do a sneak walk animation (depends on your AO). While in avatar movement mode, the left analog stick will make you run if you move the stick all the way, if you move it partially your avatar will walk.

Feathering I find problematic. Basically all this does is make your controls feel  mushy, or slow.  When you start or stop moving the flycam/avatar there’s a kind of delay that can either give a nice dramatic slow camera movement (when slider is to the left), or a wobbly flicker of camera (slider towards the right).  This can get really problematic when in busy regions (large population of avatars, heavy script use, etc) when your FPS drops, your camera can get out of control.  If you’re in avatar mode you may find your self bumping into people and end up in weird locations.  So just be careful in busy regions.

Minecraft for PC.. should I bother?

I’m really wanting to do more in minecraft but the PC version just doesn’t seem worth buying,  It costs much more than the 360 and android pocket versions combined but those ports are lacking in so many ways. The PC version isn’t playable. When playing in offline mode the game just starts to freeze up on me every 30 minuets forcing me to save and quit, which that it self is a pain in the ass since the menus lag too. I’m playing this in offline mode so I don’t understand why performance goes to shit on a regular basis on the PC; must be some kind of memory leak. The $27 price for such a shitty performing game (even in local single player) just isn’t worth it.

1.8.2 is about to hit the Xbox edition any moment now adding the basic things the PC version has had for a long while. So again should I pony up more money for a lagtastic local game or wait for the Xbox update?

Dupe Minecraft items

As of October 16th, Minecraft XBL edition has been updated to 1.8.2, and the item dupe exploit has been patched.  If you have a save game already with duped items, it will still load and your duped items will still be there. But you wont be able to duplicate any more items. This is moot now since this version of Minecraft now has Creative mode which lets you create things with out having to craft, with all item blocks available in unlimited quantities. Keep in mind however achievements are disabled on maps originally made in creative mode.  No new achievements have been added to this update 😦

________________

Today my friend told me while in conversation that you can duplicate items in Minecraft on the Xbox 360. I looked up on the net and found some videos that were posted 4-5 months ago (april/may 2012) and when duplicating what they did in the videos did not work at all. I just assumed it was an old exploit that’s already been patched up.

After speaking with my friend again while in Minecraft, I figured out what the exact steps are. But keep in mind this will likely be fixed in another update. I used the split-screen mode using a “guest” login on a second controller, but it also works online with a friend.

This only works on STACKABLE items. It will NOT work on tools, armor, weapons, food, buckets (empty or otherwise), bowls, and for some reason I could not get it to work on sticks, but it does work on wood and wooden planks.  And yes it does work on obsidian. You could do this with dirt, sand, cobblestone, and stone, but those are already plentiful in Minrcraft so don’t waste your time.

If you want to make a mass amount of iron, gold, or diamond, it’s better to make a BLOCK of that item and just duplicate the block. Since each block is worth nine ingots, you’ll make 9x more in the same amount of time, plus using less storage space.

Here is what you do…

  • Clear your inventory for both players, so you have room make copies.
  • Get one small chest, and only have one set of the item(s) you wish to copy, no stacks of them. The other player shouldn’t have any extra copies of the items being copied either.
  • There is a likelihood of losing the item you’re attempting to copy. So keep some backup copies in another chest. Do not keep them in your player’s inventory. If only one copy exists in your game, manually save your game so if you lose the item just reload and try again.
  • Place the chest on the floor, and position both players facing the chest.
  • You (or player 1) opens the chest holding the item in the chest in an empty spot, do not drop it into chest yet! Just let it “hover” there.
  • Have your friend (or player 2) start breaking down the chest by holding right trigger.
  • Then when you see the chest breaking up, hold down the (A) button on your controller so that you’re repeatedly putting in and taking out the item in rapid succession. If you’re doing this split-screen and do this in reverse order, holding (A) will stop when the other player presses the trigger. Kina odd.
  • When the chest breaks, the chest and the item you’re trying to copy will drop on the floor.

At this point there are three possibilities as what will happen.

  1. The item and chest drop on the floor and either player picks the items off the floor in the usual manor.  Failed… Try again
  2. The item you’re trying to copy vanishes, and in rare cases the chest may be gone too. Reload if need be, and try again.
  3. One or more of the item you’re copying drops on the floor, but it doesn’t come off the ground. Both players should be near the dropped item, and have a copy of the item in their quick inventory. Congratulations you did it!!

If your attempts keep failing, try switching up which player is breaking the chest, and who is holding (A) inside the chest. Eventually the trick will work after about 4-6 attempts. Often after the 1st try it will work.

The behavior of this “phantom” drop that dosen’t seem to be picked up, as well as the item you manipulate in your inventory is very glitchy, and you could lose every copy you’ve made if you do it wrong. You may want to experiment on how this behaves before you take the time to make copies in mass quantities.

The following is what seems to work but even days after making your copies and opening a chest where I’ve made thousands of copes, the all nearly vanished when moving them between my chest and inventory, or vice versa.  So save your games!

  • Walk over and stand near the “Phantom” item, and it should appear in your quick-inventory as non-stack. Your second player as well as any friends in your game can pickup a copy of the copyable phantom drop and make their own copies if they wish.
  • Sometimes you may see more than copy of the item drop. One will be pickup-able, the other will be the phantom one.
  • Open your inventory (or open a chest near by) and press (A) on the item you picked up. You’ll notice right under it will appear instantly a 64 stack of the item you’re copying. Place the item in your cursor elsewhere, and then pickup the stack in your cursor.
  • Move your cursor into your inventory (or chest) and hold down (X) to start dropping single copies and build a stack up. This stack you’re holding is your “mother stack” as when you fill a stack, your cursor’s stack instantly fills back to 64, so you can move it to another empty spot and create another stack. You can do this forever in your own inventory, or other chests. You can also press (B) while outside of inventory, and spam copies all over the floor.
  • For the duplication to work you MUST be standing near the “phantom” item that’s on the floor. It acts as a source item as it keeps refilling your “mother stack” as you place copies in your inventory. The phantom drop does eventually disappear but you’ll still be able to keep making copies. You can “drop” a new phantom stack by pressing (X) or moving your mother stack out of your inventory window.

It takes about 6 seconds to build a fill 64 stack while holding (X) like this. To fill an entire large chest will take about 6.5 minutes to fill up.

Sometimes that 64 stack may not copy and replenish back to 64 you may have moved away from the “phantom” drop or it may have timed out and disappeared. You can drop a new phantom drop pressing (B) or moving it outside your inventory. There are times when you don’t need to be near the phantom drop to make copies.

If you do this trick with Coal or Charcoal and place the “mother stack” into a furnace by pressing (A) instead of (X) so the whole thing drops. It will end up having an endless supply of fuel and never run out always showing a full 64 stack. BETTER THAN A BUCKET OF LAVA! Be sure to go back to the phantom drop to make another mother-stack to drop if you have more furnaces.

You will notice some other weirdness as you experiment with this trick. If you drop your “mother” stack and pick it up, you’ll often see a stack over 64 in your lower “quick” inventory. You’ll also notice if the “mother” stack is in your quick inventory, it dosen’t show a stack count when you’re not looking in your inventory screen. This is a good way to keep track of the “mother” stack if you get it mixed with your other stacks.

As you craft items you’ve used with your duplicated items, the crafting window (or table) may show you don’t have any copies to craft. This is likely due to having the mother stack still in your inventory, so try to drop it somewhere so you don’t pick it up again.

Also often you’ll see stacks vanish as you move some of them around. As long as you held down (X) to make the stack they should be permanent. Also I’ve noticed that duplicated coal can’t be made into torches, but you can make them into torches on a crafting table.

Enjoy making massive builds in Minecraft!

Skyrim Dawnguard: the buggy!

Been playing the Dawnguard DLC for the past week now in Skyrim, it’s nice to be back bitch slapping dragons and learning new shouts to illicit fear in my virtual foes. But by the Nines it’s very buggy and crashes my 360 often.

I’m trying to do as many achievements as I can in one run though. I already have the initial 1000 gamerpoints from the original game, which did require roughly two complete replays of the game as well as many reloads going back about 20 levels to complete missions that for whatever reason couldn’t be completed when I had progressed more in the game. So for instance, I do have the Attachments for “One with the Shadowswhere you have to complete all the Thieves guild missions, yet i still have the Skeleton Key which if I did finish this properly I would no longer have.  I had to use a much older savegame to complete the Thieves guild/Nightingale missions since it glitched out.

I could probably do that again in a single playthough now that I know the game better, but even then the game is so flakey and bugs cause missions to be un-finishable that you have to start over to redo those missions that some how get broken.

The nice thing about this DLC is that it dosen’t isolate you from the main world map. So Dawnguard just comes up as another side mission compared to Fallout 3/NV DLCs where you’re often isolated main map so you can’t return to your home(s) to rest, nor visit vendors to sell off your loot. Also these DLCs often force you to discard the majority of your inventory, ditch any companions you had tagging along with you (and their inventory) and forces you to finish the DLC missions before you can return the main world map.

Also for those of you trying to figure out how to start the Dawnguard story line you simply listen to any guard passing by and he may mention Dawnguard and the mission will pop up on screen.  You can also try talking to a guard directly about it, but mine appeared from a guard passing by me.  You can also find Fort Dawnguard at the far southeast corner of the map (Southeast of Riften) but you’ll have to enter a cave first to get to it. I also believe you have to be at level 10 for it to trigger as a mission.

This new DLC brings in two new perk trees for both Vampire lord, and Warewolf with 11 perks each that give you an achievement for both. Basically all you have to do is kill things while as a vampire lord, or a warewolf that adds experiance points over time you can spend on perks. This remains separate from training your skills and character. Which is probably a good thing since I’m sure many players already have maxed out characters at level 100 and can’t earn more XP anyway.

I didn’t feel that playing the DLC story line would give you much experance to level both perk trees so I decided to just go on rampages and killing as much as I can to gain experience and ignoring the Dawnguard missions. The problem is that they didn’t play test Vampire Lord mode much since there are issues fitting under low ceilings in caves, mine shafts, and other places in doors.  Plus you’re forced in 3rd person mode so the walls get in the way of the camera view and makes everything even more claustrophobic. Even when you’re “on foot” as a vampire lord my i didn’t have the headroom to get past some areas. I was forced to revert back to normal human form to get around.

After leveling Vampire Lord, I switched over too Warewolf (just head back to the Companions to switch) and it only took me a few sessions to quickly run though on a rampage to level up on warewolf. If you have Serana as a companion (which she joins you early in the story line) she can’t die so she can help make kills you can feed on but she IS a necromancer so if you’re not quick about it she will revive a body before you can feed. Also once you’re done leveling your warewolf she can make you a vampire again right on the spot. Problem is that after spending all day warewolf rampaging, you’ll say in warewolf mode for a good while (unless your health is low).

BTW avoid dragons while in either vampire lord, or warewolf form since the dragon (especially fire breathers) will fuck you up good. So anyway I found the game to lock up often, and repeatedly in particular locations, while exploring skyrim as a warewolf attempting to level up. Fortunately i was able to level up both warewolf and vampire lord, and now I can get back to the Dawnguard story line and see if i can get the last four achievements with out having to restart the the mission and join the Dawngaurd.

Also one last gripe I think the devs kina fucked up on. Why do I have to level Smithing to 100 to work on Dragon bone/scale armor and weapons when Daedric armor and weapons (which is at level 90) is BETTER rated? The ONLY exception to this is dragonbone arrows which has a damage of 25 vs Daedric arrows at 24.

The only other good thing about the dragon smith skill is Daedric dosen’t have light armor option, but dragon scale does, so I believe dragon scale armor is the best light armor you can get. However Daedric heavy armor is still better than heavy dragon bone armor.

I think I found a sort of glitch while playing as a Vampire.  As a vampire lord, you cast this life sucking spell which works towards your vampire experience for it’s perk tree.  But I really didn’t like being in this awkward form all the time. This one time I revered back to human form while still a Vampire Lord in hover mode, and I noticed I had my sword in my left hand (I usually dual weld one-handed swords) but I STILL had the Vampire Lord Life absorb spell in my right hand. I still functioned and let me gain experience for my Vampire perk tree!  Sure I had a smaller magic pool to use this spell but it much nicer to run around in human form (not bumping my head on everything) and still being able to use other weapons or spells in my left hand, plus still have access to my inventory and take potions to get more magic power.  But the moment i equipped anything in my right hand it went away, except for any two-handed weapons, bows or crossbows, once you unequipped them the life absorb spell came back.

360 update

So to my surprise they updated the 360 Dashboard. For months since the new slim 360 Xbox came out, all the Xbox and game ads showed a different “splash screen” and this update changes the start up logo to that swirlling  swoosh ribbon.  And the look of the Dashboard has change to what can be best described as the most BLAND looking interface i’ve ever seen.  It reminds me of classic windows 2000 or “Basic” mode in Vista/Win7 far too much bright white.

There is no way to change the overall color scheme. We used to be able to change colors as presets, before XNE. Even some themes would change the colors for text and windows blades and other aspects of the UI, but not anymore. I’ve also noticed that the new interface blocks out the lower half of the background of my theme in most of the channels on the dashboard.  Noticeable when you’ll looking at your friend channel showing their avatars side by side.

What i find really annoying is the ability to rate a game in your Game Library is gone, you now can only rate games from the games marketplace. Which is fucking STUPID.  This means I have to HUNT for the game, that i already HAVE, in that clusterfuck of the game marketplace, which STILL has no search function so you’re foced to flip though each game listinf 5 at a time. JUST so you can give it a rating.  Sure i want to SEE what the overall rating is for a game is when I’m shopping. But I want to rate games I have already played. It was quick and easy to do it from the Games Library, but nooooooo.

Why would I want to rate a game I’ve not played?  Honestly they should only allow gamers to rate games they they had actually played. Perhaps enable ratings ONLY after the player gets their first achievement, thus guaranteeing they actually played some of it.  Otherwise this can skew the rankings if everyone can rate a game they never played, especially silver members which anyone can make endless “alt” gamertags that don’t have gold memberships, and really abuse the Ranking system.

Ya know they claimed the cleaned up the matketplace to make it easier to find what you want. But it’s still the same confusing mess of crap you have to thumb though 5 games at a time. Why is it when i download a game, or an app (not a game on DVD) it needs an update?  Shouldn’t the initial download ALREAY be updated?

All of the sounds the dashboard makes have changed.  Except the sound you get when friends come online and when you get achievements.  For which i wish those sounds were different.

A lot of the apps needed an update but not many.  Facebook and Twitter apps didn’t need an update but the Last.fm app did, even though i don;t see anything diffrent with it at all.  Hell after nearly a year now using last.fm it’s STILL showing that same fucking car ad when i start last.fm

The good things I find with this update is the interface seems much more snappy even on my old slow, fat, overheating Xenon Xbox 360. Also while some of my friends don’t like all the white on the screen (and I find it bland) it IS a lot easier for me to read with my fucked up eye sight, but i still want to be able to change the color scheme.
