Random shit…

My family is going bankrupt. I’m flat broke. I might be sued for downloading copyrighted pr0n. Grandfather is in the hospital (but doing well) and the video card on my desktop PC just took a shit on me. Saturday night live still sucks. Comcast DVRs suck. TSA stands for “Touching Some Ass.” Washing machine is STILL broke after paying some old fart to fix it.

So if anything else bad is going to happen to me; can we get it over with now?  Thanks universe, you’re such a douchebag.

  1. What happened to your DVR? Can I help?

    • Nothing has happened to my DVR; it’s not broken, it just sucks by design.

They are poorly designed, the interface was made by a socially retarded idoit. The interface is sluggish, and often unresponsive. The DVR always records repeats of the EXACT same show if it re-airs later the same day (like >AHEM< everything on G4).

I spend every weekend going though a weeks of programming and TELLING IT not to record shows that I know are reruns, but the DVR thinks are new shows. I'm at the point now i just don’t record anything on G4 anymore.

Often I have to tell my DVR to play a recording twice to just start playing. And why does it constantly hang on on me as i hit buttons on the remote? I could be fast forwarding though commercials, and then hit play umpteen times, but it's still spinning on into the next commercial segment. All those button presses are read by the DVR but not executed. So they queued up in the DVR so when the DVR finally wakes up it plays/pauses/plays/pauses/plays/pauses over and over and over, and if i had hit any other buttons on the remote in frustration the DVR goes ape shit and i end up watching some shopping channel in Espanol.

Why can't comcast get RID of these awful motorola DVRs? they are the worst machines ever. They are slow, cumbersome interface, and i still haven't figured out how I'm supposed to watch my DVR shows on my computer. now that's a real confusing clusterfuck of a UI if I've ever seen it. And yes im tech savvy and I find this utterly confusing as if you people don't really WANT us to stream our shows over the net. Hell how can we with your 250gb up/download restrictions anyway?

Seriously, why do I spend over $200 on this bullshit? For that much money I can get a REAL DVR. I know comcast can't afford Tivo licenses for your bazillion customers, but there's GOT to be a an alternative to Motorola DVRs. I could get a cable card, and build my own DVR using windows media center, or opensoruce DVR software.

However if I can build my own DVR, why can't comcast? There is a lot of open source software that can run as a DVR, hell even windows media center is halfway decent, and then you can offer your customers REAL CHOICE and dump these shitty motorola DVRs.
